About the course
This is a self-paced online course in mental health awareness. It takes 90 minutes to 2 hours, and you can do it in one sitting or a module at a time. Six short video-led modules take you from what mental health actually is, through to recognising the early signs, holding a supportive conversation, understanding stress, and knowing the common conditions and where to signpost. Each module has a reflection or activity, and a knowledge check as you go. It is written for everyone. No prior knowledge, no jargon. The scenarios are set at work, so it fits whether you are an employee, a manager, or someone supporting friends and family. It will not train you to diagnose anyone, and it does not qualify you as a mental health first aider. What it does is give you some of the skills one uses, so you notice earlier and respond better. Finish the six modules, pass the 15-question assessment at 80%, and you get your certificate of completion.
This is a fully accredited course.
This Mental Health Awareness Course has been independently reviewed and accredited by CPD. The content, the structure and the learning outcomes have all been checked against recognised CPD standards, so you can be confident it holds up. Complete the course and the end of course assessment and you will receive a certificate. It goes into your own professional development record, and it gives your organisation evidence that your managers have been properly trained.
Meet your instructor.
I am Paul Longley, and I founded Think Mental Health. I lived with poor mental health for more than twenty years. A lot of that time I was at work, and what I learned is that the workplace makes a real difference to how someone copes. It can make a hard period harder. It can also be the thing that helps, when the people around you understand what is going on. That is why I started Think Mental Health. Not to turn everybody into a first aider, but to give ordinary people the confidence to notice, to ask, and to listen. I have delivered this training in many organisation. The same thing comes up every time. People do not lack the will to help. They lack the words, and the permission to use them. This course is my answer to that. Plain English, honest about what it cannot do, and every bit of it something you can use the next time someone tells you they are not doing great.

Who is behind this course?
Think Mental Health is a UK training company. We help organisations make mental health something people can talk about at work, and give them the practical skills to do it well. We do not believe in one-off, tick-box training. Awareness only changes a culture when it is kept up, so most of our work with organisations runs across a full year. This course is where that starts, and it stands on its own just as well. Everything we make is written in plain English, built around real situations, and focused on what you do next rather than what you memorise.
